Brasil

Well, right now its way to hot to write anything in the blog....sorry for that but some Fotos at least...
Well, still hot but here some little information. After we spent christmas eve in horrible Porto Alegre in the south,we flew to Sao Paolo(enourmous landing on national Airport in the middle of the city) and then up north to Ilheus. Then by taxi 100km to famous wave surfing village Itacare in the middle of Rainforest and at the Atlantic coast. We stay here now for this busy time between christmas and new year. Life here in Brasil is quite diffrent then in the other countries we have been. And it gets very very busy now till the 1 .january. The beaches are amazing and priceless, really beautiful...but if you do not surf its not much to do here. For us its good to take another break cause we re planning already the rest of traveling, buying and reserving bustickets, Flights ,reservation Pousadas....everthing needs time and portuges is like russian for us. Well, not much more to tell for right now....

Uruguay

Just to make it short, because we are a bit busy by travelling. We rented a car (bad one,but cheap)
and drove from Montevideo along the coast to one of the most famous summer spots in Southamerica called Punta del Este, which is kind of like Monaco or even worse. But its on a beautiful peninsula, a pity they over build everthing. But just around was a nice place called la Barra where we stayed one night. Poor expensive hotel but a fantastic dinner in a beauty of Restaurant. Next even more north just 130km of the border to Brasil La Pedrera, nice village, very sleepy and all they do is drinking Mate Tea and surfing. A pity for Geri ,cause beaches after beaches for Miles but .....no wind. We had in bad weather a wonderful trip to such a poor fishing village called Cabo Polonia, really nice to see. Hundredes of Sealions, small tiny houses and I guess no electricity or fresh water. But the people so nice and happy,so we ask us whats the problem with us Europeans.
Now we re in downtown Montevideo and surprised cause its more beautiful then we thought.
We found a superb Hotel built 1913 and careful renovated in the heart of Montevideo (Like Niederdorf in Zuerich or Gamla Stan in Stockholm). On the top of the fantastic building they have a terrasse and a Bar and you can see all over the town. If you hear this you think maybe not payable but hey...Caipirinha Sfr.3.- and 1Liter Beer Sfr.3.50. And we ate in a typical Uruguayo Parilla (Uruguascho Parischa)Restaurant, big Grill in the middle of the Restaurant and meat ,meat, meat so much filetto de lomo we both put pretty much weight on. And in the night the all opened their bars and clubs and thousands of Uruguayos on the street.....I hate Bongos... loud...all night long. So we had not much sleep, but it was worth it anyway with such a nice hotel.
Now, we have to waste some time and waiting for the bus up north to Brasil.
Stay tuned....

Famous in Chile Newspaper

http://diario.elmercurio.com/2006/12/17/revista_del_domingo/mas_viajes/noticias/F4902FEE-A0F4-4B32-A37F-626211518893.htm?id={F4902FEE-A0F4-4B32-A37F-626211518893}

Push (mas imagines) and you will see that we re getting famous in the biggest Newspaper in Chile. Ok, not a lot of Fotos and poor Quality but still.....

We have spend 4 days now in Uruguay in this most beautiful town called Colonia del Sacramento. We were absolutely surprised about Uruguay and their habitants. We didnt know a lot about the second smallest Country in Southamerica but til now this is the place. Funiest people ever, enourmous heat during the day and night (32C at midnight)and then last night tremendeous thunderstorm. We even made fantastic friends, Naike from Bilbao basque part in
Spain and her husband Gabriel from Cordoba in Argentina. We spend some beautiful days together (muchas gracias amigos). Never forget the Frizzante Playa (plascha) and the Golf mobil and eat and eat and eat, well ok drink ,drink, drink. But ,its time to move on Nina wanted the Rio dela Plata Side and Geri of course the Ocean Side. So, women first, we went to a local Car rental
there we met such a funny owner, and all our plans changed. He told us all about Uruguay and nothing about his cars. Guided us around by internet and explained what we have to see. So that means tomorrow by bus (of course still with kite equipment) to Montevideo and there by Car all along the coast.....So, Men ideas are still stronger.........

Taking a break

After Buenos Aires we thought about going south to the atlantic coast and even more south to peninsula valdez, where whales, dolphines,Orcas can be seen. But we stopped at Villa Gesell about 350km south of BA.
The strange name of this town comes from a german founder 1930. Its a tipical beach resort,so nothing special but the beach is immense. After all the travelling we got really exhausted so we took a break here at the beach.
But our plan to go even more south to see the whales got cancelled, cause the whale season is at the edge to end.
So we called down there and they said there are only some around and the most of them are gone. So for a 16 hours bus drive we thought this is not sure enough. That means we have more time for the beach life swimming and kiting here and we enjoy it very much. Btw. yesterday we had a new record in a restaurant about prices. One bottle of red wine malbec from Mendoza for Fr. 4.50,and surprise it was good. Tomorrow beach life is ending for a while. The plan is taking the bus back to BA then by ferry over Rio de la Plata to Colonia del Sacramento the oldest town of Uruguay, and declared by UNESCO as a World heritage Site.
So talk to you later from Uruguay.......

Buenos Aires

The Quality of the Aire is far away from the citys name, enormous bus traffic through downtown and of course on the widest street in the world, avenida 9 julio. But,it doesnt matter, the city got plenty of charm to make it up with, and we now understand why its called " The Paris of Southamerica".Puerto Madero (the docks)with tons of stylish restaurants,bars,casino.......And not to forget the Art and cultural area of the city,Palermo Soho, like you are in another world against downtown BA.Amazing beautifully colonial houses, one restaurant cooler than the next one, small shops, cafes, bars and so on.
On the other side the poor areas of La Boca(the home of Boca Juniors, where Diego Armando Maradona ,the hand of god, started his wonderful carieer) where even if they are very poor, are dancing tango on the streets in the area of brightly painted Caminito, and Barracas with so much poor people who let us start to think......
Went to Plaza de Mayo and the President house to look for Evita, but what a shame, she wasnt there.... now we know, she really is dead!So we closed our eyes and imagined, dont cry for me Argentina....

Mendoza

After an immense 6 hours Bus ride up the Andes,we crossed the border to Argentina. Beautiful landscape on the feet of Americas highest Peek Aconcagua 6959alt. Stayed 3 Days in Mendoza the most beautiful city till now. Located in the middle of huge Wineyards, this lovely city with 170 000 people seems like a small town with many Bodegas, small Restaurants and lovelyParks but what a pity of course the famous southamerican garbage isnt missing.
We realized pretty fast that here on the other side of the Andes the life is completely diffrent.
It s so interesting to see, people seem not that friendly as in Chile, they seem more arrogant, not so helpful but much more modern and its unbelieveble cheap. We ate enormous Steaks,at least 450g, plus great Wines, for nothing. For tonite the Bus is waiting to cross Argentina in a 15 hours drive and visite one of the biggest citys in South America, Buenos Aires.....so wish us luck...
