Enjoy the silence

Well,we almost feel abit embarrassed, should ve left this place days and even weeks ago,but something is still holding us here, which is quite nice actually.I mean the place is great, and more or less no tourists,so we re kind of getting in to the Brasilian lifestyle a bit.We re having a great time here, and meeting alot of really nice people.Tomorrow our Belgian host is taking us on atrip towards Fortaleza and Cumbuco (which are some places more north)to see some other things.I mean we havent been really in a travelmood for a while now, with dragging our bagage on different buses, taxis, looking for places to stay.........
The time is going kind of fast now.We only have about 2 more weeks.Cant really believe that this fantastic journey is going to end so soon. But everything has an end......
Decided anyway to spend the last days before we fly home in canoa Quebrada.Heard alot about this place so maybe we should see it.
Well this is it for now,see you later alligator

Kitesurfing days

Well, there is not much to say this time. We are still at the same place in Icapui, which is really far outside. Here it is really Brasilian, that means only this pousada we are staying in and not much more. Our belgian host who is actually only 30 years old, is just super nice and he took us with him to places and partys where we were really the only Gringos. And this all works in a safe feeling what i thought doesnt excist in Brasil, but it really does. Well, Nina is reading book after book and still working on her dark, dark skin, and I m kiting everday. The wind conditions are not that bad for this time cause it s the end of the windy season. Once i had an immense Kiteday, with Aladin. He is a 17 years old local guy who lives here and getting prepared for his professional Kitesurfing career. He is already ranked in top 30 of the world. Anyway he took me with him kiting all along the coast for about 5km downwind to a very nice lagoon with amazing flat water. There we had a super cool kitesession till sunset, then our Host came by Jeep and picked us up and we drove back all along the beach, just big time...
Anyway we have to go further on north soon, but why... we love it so much here... so its difficult to get into these hard travelling mood again.
Well, thats it for right now,
Cheers

Journeys,not from this world

Salvador, so,what happened..after having a fantastic dinner at an italian Restaurant,Geri struggled through very bad sickness. While freezing with fever he was tumbling between bed and toilet (actually we re not really sure it was from that). But after Nina had dinner at the same place, on her own because Geri was sick, she had also a pretty rough night with bad stomache.
We were very lucky we recovered very fast because the next day we had a planeticket, going north, and it was going to be a hell of a long day...
First of all the Taxidrive to the airport 45 minutes, then the plane to Recife had 2 hours delay.
Arriving in Recife another 30 Minutes Taxidrive to the busterminal. Buying bustickets on some kind of portugese, spanish. Waiting 2 more hours for the bus to leave. Finally getting on the road. After about 2 hours the bloody bus broke down and we had to change bus in the darkness.
Kicked out of the bus in Gohiniha in the middle of nowhere around 9.30pm we finally got a taxi to drive us to our final destination that day,Praia da Pipa. But what a surprise ,this wasnt the end...after this horror day the room we had booked and had confirmed was, belive it or not,occupied...So we had to spend 2 nights in a backyard cave. After we got the room that we actually booked we spended a couple of really nice days, with our american neighbour and friend Will, swimming with the dolphins, eating shrimps, sipping Caipirinhas while waiting for the damn wind.
Now, we are staying another 6 hours busdrive north of Pipa, between Natal and Fortaleza,in the quite unexplored Icapui.
Here we found the place of our dreams,a beautiful Pousada, right by the ocean,a very nice young belgian kitesurfing host, and Wind. We wish we could stay here until the end of our trip but unfortunately it is a bit over our budget...we will see....

Salvador De Bahia

Hope you all had a nice New Years eve and a good start in 2007. We had a quite funny evening in Itacare with some guys we met in the same pousada as we were. Well, the funny thing was that this couple was also from Zuerich and really not far from our home, and know some of the same people back home. After a nice apero hosted by the owners of the pousada in the middle of the rainforest, we were hunting around in the village for some food, but the brazilian life is diffrent then european. It was all closed, they like to party themself more then to make money.
Finally we found some dripping fat deep fried empandas in a rathole..mhh what a delicous new year dinner. Well, we already had kind of too much Caipirinhas that caused us a new dimension of hang over cause of the lemons and Cahaca (Tooth pain, stomachache and normal head ache).
On the 2nd of january we moved further up north again by damn bus. But it was beautiful through the rainforest and lost villages. We were thinking how can these people live there and like that, unbeliveble. The landscape is just amazing wild forest and all kind of fruits even those we never saw before.
Now, we are staying in Salvador de Bahia which is the third biggest city in Brasil, around 3,5 Million. The historical centre is also a UNESCO world heritage site, which is amazingly beautiful. Unbeliveble, cause the citys surroundings is really fucked up . The city has an intresting sad history with the portugese who were holding slaves from Africa. Nowdays, the african culture is still alive, and the mix with brazil lifestyle makes it so colorful and happy and people say Salvador is the only african City outside of Africa.
Next step for us will be by plane and again damn bus up north to a little place called Praia da Pipa, where finally Geris Kitesurfjourney will begin.
